The visible spectrum
This is the sun’s visible light spectrum. Going above 480 nm into the greens, yellows and reds can potentially harm the corals.
The beneficial spectrum
The optimal spectrum for coral growth and color expression is between 360 to 48 nm. We’re talking about UV and blue mainly, and not all of it is within the visible light range.
