Il existe donc une relation directe entre la croissance des coraux et l&rsquo;absorption du Calcium.<br><br>Les composants d&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 carbonate et bicarbonate utilis\u00e9s par les coraux pour former leur squelette constituent une part importante de l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 totale de l&rsquo;eau de l&rsquo;aquarium. Cependant, l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 totale mesur\u00e9e comprend \u00e9galement l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 de nombreux autres composants tels que le bore, le phosphate, le fluorure, le silicate, le sulfate, le nitrate et les compos\u00e9s organiques. <br><br>Ces autres composants de l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 totale sont facilement influenc\u00e9s par de nombreux processus non li\u00e9s au corail, tels que les changements d&rsquo;eau, les aliments, les suppl\u00e9ments, l&rsquo;accumulation de mati\u00e8res organiques et les sous-produits de l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 bact\u00e9rienne. En outre, d&rsquo;autres processus biog\u00e9ochimiques tels que la photosynth\u00e8se et la nitrification consomment \u00e9galement des composants de l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 carbonat\u00e9e.<br><br>En dosant les 4 parties en fonction de l&rsquo;absorption de l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9, on dose \u00e9galement le Calcium et les autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui n&rsquo;ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9puis\u00e9s par la calcification. Cela entra\u00eenera des concentrations plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es de Calcium et d&rsquo;autres oligo-\u00e9l\u00e9ments qui provoqueront des pr\u00e9cipitations et une chute de l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 qui rompra l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre chimique d\u00e9licat de l&rsquo;eau.
